94 Points Wine Enthusiast
Balanced and stylish, the wine has a fine contrast between structure and black-currant fruits. It is ripe, juicy with tannins to assure its future.
93 Points Vinous
The 2022 Mauvesin Barton was picked 13 September to 15 October and aged in one-third new oak. It is initially quite backward on the nose and demands encouragement, revealing blackberry, chimney soot and tobacco scents with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, the cedar-infused black fruit tinged with white pepper and pencil shaving. Composed, nothing over-ambitious, yet long and tender on the finish. It is one of the best vintages that I have tasted from this estate that is owned by the Barton-Sartorius family. Tasted twice with consistent notes
93 Points James Suckling
A polished and pretty wine with blackberries and cherries. Hints of hazelnut. Medium body. Fine tannins. Long finish.
